Rachel Dwan was born in Mountain View, CA. She studied architectural design at Stanford University and art at the Art Student’s League in New York City. She has completed residencies at the Wassaic Residency Program in Wassaic, NY, and the School of Visual Arts Summer Residency in New York City. For the past 10 years, Dwan has been creating resonant paintings of natural patterns. She is inspired by dance, and any other form of communicating ideas with the body.
Dwan has previously exhibited her artwork in San Francisco at Root Division, Guerrero Gallery, Incline Gallery, The Drawing Room, Ritual Coffee Valencia, Sub Level Art Gallery, Arc Gallery, and a.Muse Gallery. Additionally she has shown at Abrams Claghorn Gallery, Albany, CA; Center for the Arts, Mill Valley; Pacific Art League, Palo Alto; Omni Gallery, Oakland; Santa Cruz Art League, Santa Cruz; Sanchez Art Center, Pacifica; Central Booking, NYC; Pacific Art League, Palo Alto; Santa Cruz Art League, Santa Cruz; Wassaic Project, Wassaic, NY; Catholic Theological Union, Chicago; and Dino Eli Gallery, NYC.
