Camila Fernandez “Hopeful Weeds,” oil on panel,  14 x 11 inches, 2020. The painting is signed on the reverse.

Camila Fernandez was raised in both Modesto, California and Santiago, Chile. She has been living in San Francisco for over two decades.

Fernandez graduated from the Academy of Art in 2005 with a degree in Fine Arts Sculpture. She now focuses solely on oil painting. Fernandez says “I like to paint alla prima, and love the texture and painterly quality I can achieve with oil paints. Aside from portrait painting, my paintings are observations of my life around me, leaning towards the overlooked or unpopular, i.e. pigeons or a cluster of weeds.”

Recent exhibitions include “Women Rising” at The Drawing Room Annex in San Francisco in 2020, and the “50/50 Show” at the Sanchez Art Center in Pacifica in 2019.
